U.S. and New
Zealand
officials recently signed letters formalizing tier 2 status under the
Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism for members of New Zealand’s
Secure Export Scheme. According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection press
release, this is the first time that another government’s supply chain security
program has merited this level of recognition. New Zealand was
the first country to sign a mutual recognition arrangement concerning such
programs with the U.S., in 2007, and the expansion of this cooperation was held out as a model
for other mutual recognition partners, which include Canada, Japan, Korea and Jordan
